CD Review—

Harvey Taylor

'Round & 'Round We Go

On his latest CD, veteran Milwaukee poet/musician Harvey Taylor encompasses tunes that range from earnest to socio-political to goofy. A number of the city's acoustic and improvisational musicians back Taylor, the effects of which can be alternately charming and unnerving.

As he sings about urban agriculture, romance, a half-forgotten tv episode, pacifist convictions and other subjects, a distinct image emerges: a friendly, thoughtful dude who is comfortable regaling listeners from a coffeehouse stage.
