The Tide Is Turning

These times have been so mean...so discouraging... so much insanity...so demoralizing— so many of us have been working really hard, and yearning: now, I really believe the tide is turning.

Massacres in schools, it's a national disgrace... the killing fields of America are all over the place— so many of us have been working really hard, and yearning: now, I really believe the tide is turning.

A multitude of brave young people is leading the way... they know they're the ones whose future is at stake— so many of us have been working really hard, and yearning: now, I really believe the tide is turning.

Very loud and clearly, I hear these young voices say, 'We're calling BS on politicians, and the NRA!!' Yes, so many of us have been working really hard, and yearning: now, I really believe the tide is turning.

Some may think that this is just a 'media moment'... but it's only the beginning of an historic movement— so many of us have been working really hard, and yearning: now, I really believe the tide is turning.

These awakened, energized youth will not be denied... their determination, and ours, is turning the tide.

Violence is at the core of many horrors, it's obvious... racism, war, gender discrimination, ecological crisis— so many of us have been working really hard, and yearning: now, I really believe the tide is turning.

Union strikes, civil rights, anti-war, hashtag-me-too... all this comes together when students walk out of dangerous schools— so many of us have been working really hard, and yearning: now, I really believe the tide is turning.
